POEM: Summer's Eve

Updated: Dec 2, 2019

by MAGGIE SENTER

A summer’s eve not long ago With lots of places for me to go I chose to stay in my own yard And sit back gazing at the stars. The night was warm against my skin

With hands resting below my chin.

The stars they gleamed so very bright Wished I could stay throughout the night Yet I had to leave all too soon And say my goodbyes to the moon I bid adieu to the stars too Hoping that I would see them soon

And with a small and heavy heart I began to turn and then depart Someday I will be back again But with life's demands I don't know when I now lie down and plan to sleep; The stars and moon I plan to keep.
